On Tuesday I attended class for Mr. Nick who is an English teacher for Educational Technology year one students. The main aim of the lesson was to teach the students how to organize their writing. At the beginning of the lesson the teacher write on the white board the learning objective of the lesson. McKenzie (2006) wrote that teacher should make students aware of the learning objectives for the lesson. After that the teacher handled the students a worksheet and they started to answer the questions and discuss with the teacher. I realize that the teacher gave some hints to the students to give some solutions about traffic jams in the UAE. Trawick Smith (2006, 53) insist that “In this zone, adults can ask questions or give hints that allow the learners to solve the problem independently". Moreover, I believe that the question the teacher was giving to the students was helpful because they were thinking and discussing to solve the problem. Additionally, I believe that the teacher was giving the students more explanation about each task which I believe that it help the students to be engage to the lesson. I agree with Arends (2007, 415) when he stated that “ The teacher asks questions about the lessons, the students raise their hands and reply, teacher evaluates the response with praise or corrects the response”. Although there were different type of technology resources available in the class but Mr. Nick didn’t use any technology in his teaching.
I believe that the teacher has a good planning for the lesson. I realized that from the beginning of the lesson when he explained for the students about the learning objectives. The lesson was structure that at the first lesson the students will exercise about organizing their writing and in the second lesson the student will write an essay base on the information that they learned. As Kyriacou (2001,19) said “planning enables you to think clearly and specifically about the type of learning you wish to occur in a particular lesson and to relate the educational objectives to what you know about the pupils and the place of the lesson in the general program of study”. However, the lesson was flexible because the teacher re-order the lesson structure and give the student to write the essay at home and complete practicing about writing.
There were 16 students and the classroom was arranged into four groups of four students. The students were discussing, answering questions and brainstorm ideas in pen and paper. Hebden and Mason say (2003, 25) ''groups work also allows pupils to work on different activities at the same time and frees the teacher to work with particular groups at the different times to check pupils are on task”. Moreover, I strongly believe that the teacher has a good classroom management. Teacher was moving around in each activity to check that the students understand the task. According to Kyriacou (2006, 86) ‘‘look around the classroom and consider whether any pupils appear to be having difficulties’’. Additionally, teacher was giving the students feedback while he was moving around and if they answer correctly. Kyriacou (2001, 68) wrote that teacher should “[provide] pupils with regular feedback on how their skills and competence are developing”. Furthermore, I realize that the teacher has a effective time management for the classroom because I found that he divided each exercise to fit the class time. Kyriacou (2006, 19) stated that “the most important skills in teaching is that of judging how much time should be spent on each activity…”
From my view point, I believe that the teacher need to do something differently in teaching. For using technology, I believe that teacher could use technology in the lesson. Teacher could use some of planning software such as One Note, Inspiration and Gliffy as a Mindtools to create and concept maps about the ideas that they brainstorm. According to Jonassen "Mindtools are computers based tools and learning environment that have been adapted or developed to enable learners to represent what they know"(2006, 20). So students will have a chance to upload their diagrams in course wiki or blog. However, teacher could use the Smart Board to brainstorm ideas about the topic using the Smart Board Notebook. Furthermore, teacher could use some online discussion forum such as Black Board Vista. Additionally, teacher could use the internet to search for more ideas related to traffic jams. This remind me of Kyriacou (2006, 19) who stated that “A variety of activities also provides pupils with an opportunity to learn in different ways and thereby to build up and develop the skills to do so effectively’’. Added to that teacher could allow the students to post in their blog their ideas. Moreover, teacher could use different type of activities to allows the learners to learn in effective way.

During my 3rd week in the college I learnt different methods, thoughts and ideas. In this week we focus more on case study, principle of design, Learning Management System, Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences and Bloom Taxonomy theories.
I noticed that in each week I learn many useful and interesting thing. After I get used to Learning Management System that our teacher Miss Maryanne created using Moodle to provide for us an online courses where we find all of our resources and outline. I considered the benefit of using the LMS to create learning tools, training materials, an e-Learning module, or a product for our workplace. Module is one example of learning management system that allows to create online course which I strongly believe it is help to allow the learner to learn through collaboration. Furthermore, it changed my thinking for creating more and more learning tools. Added to that, I started to think about my future career which might be a free job to create different learning tools, training materials, and e-learning module for schools or for companies.

In addition, I practiced new drawing skill in my design class which is to draw upside down draws which help me to allow my brain think and try to see the image and to recognize the photo. Moreover, I learned another new skill which was enlarging a photo which helped me to divide the picture into blocks and then draw each box separately and then to add some scratch to improve it. From that I believe that these activities will help me a lot in designing in Adobe Illustrator to design my materials, learning tools, e-learning module as I wish to design them.
From the previous skills that I learnt this week, I believe that these skills will help me to created different materials for the Multiple Intelligences to suit each learners skills and help them to be creative. Furthermore, when I reflect I realized that learners like to use technology so from providing for them online courses using the Learning Management System to create online courses to suit their learning style.

During my 1st week in the college I learnt different new methods, thoughts and ideas about learning, the principle of design, Learning Management System and other theories.
Learning is a word that we always use in writing and taking about studying in general. However, we didn’t consider the meaning of the word which is a continuous change in behavior and performance as a result of learner interacting with environment. It come to my attention the importance of applied learning which has been uses in different universities in Business degrees, Nursing, Engineering and Applied Sciences. I found that this applied learning help student on self and time management. It like the applied learning because it allows the learners to work collaboratively on teams and discussing learning which I believe it help to improve the learning communication skills. Furthermore, I believe on the applied learning which allows learners to discover new ideas and understandings by building on knowledge, skills and attitudes.
Moreover, I learnt about the most common errors face researcher when doing research. I believe that when I recognize the common errors of researching will help me a lot to avoid this errors to find a reasonable and reliable information and data for my action research. Add to that it come to my attention the important of following a scientific basis for research rather than fooling in a lot details about the research.
In addition, I found it interesting to learn more about the principle of design which I believe that help me a lot in drawing and choosing color. In my view point, I believe that learning about the principle of design is important for me a lot because it can help me in designing website, broachers, poster, CD cover. When I reflect I realize the steps I should follow in creating effective materials and resources during my studying and my whole life.

Hi all it is my pleasure to create this Blog to share with you my thoughts, ideas and experiences about training and teaching in my final year. Furthermore, I hope to brainstorm with you some method about the principle of design. In addition, I will try to post a weekly type of Web 2.0 Tools to have an ongoing learning to improve my skills.
In the last week I had been at the Regional Center for Educational Planning of UNESCO at the University City in Sharjah for my work placement. I was really happy and I was really interesting in going here for my work placement because I really believe that the UNESCO is stated purpose is to contribute to peace and security by promoting international collaboration through education, science, and culture. Moreover, I feel it is a great opportunity for me to work with any of the UNESCO branch which was my dream because I believe that the propose of this center suit our society and community my college staff. Furthermore, I think that this work placement allows me to apply what I have studied at my college. Also, I think that this work placement helps me to know how to deal with adults which is a new thing for me to work learn about. I have studied different information about that in my Work Placement Course and from some other articles that I read of how to deal and motivate adults, but now I have chance to practice it firsthand. Moreover, I believe that this course helps us a lot to connect our studying with the real environment. In my view point, I believe that this work placement helped me a lots to share my improve my skills in creating website using Dreamweaver and to learn more about Networking security and video capturing.
While working with the staff in the Regional Center for Educational Planning of UNESCO, I learnt different skills and knowledge about different types of technology used in education such as Video Capture. I noticed form Mr. Taha about this new technology for keeping video records for all of the training and workshops that were presented in the centre. The equipment that they used is very easy to use. They just used Dom camera, video recording, Advanced Multi Media servers and network server. Because Mr. Taha is the ICT engineer, he has a screen connected to all of the Training rooms to records all of the workshops placed in. Moreover, he can monitor the rooms and swap between the corners to take different views for the workshop.
We learnt different information about the servers that the RCEP used for their folders and files. I was really amazed when I enter the room. I noticed from Mr. Taha that there are two brands used for the servers devises which is Dell and Hp. Moreover, he gave us a clear description for all of the devises and their cables. It pleased me to know more about the three kinds of wireless connection companies such as SSICO, Trapez and Arooba. Moreover, I learnt different information about the two types WAN and LAN in the Communication Room (MDF). Moreover, I saw the Etisalate battery. Furthermore, I was amazed from the different devises that they are using and the function of all of the cables and devises. Furthermore, we learnt the different Advanced Multi Media servers. In addition, Mr. Taha showed us the Sound System and how it is connected to the Video Capture in all of the training rooms. It pleased me to try it by myself when I connected to Training Room 1.
When Mr. Taha show us how they do the video capture, he showed us a new interactive tools that I like it which called the Interactive Learning Screen were the users can capture three types like the full screen, practical and windows. I noticed from Mr. Taha that they used Interwriter work software which allows the users to
In developing the website we sometimes faced some problem especially in the Arabic part because Dreamweaver do not sport the Arabic language, so we do different appointment with some of the colleges Educational Technology staff. Who I want to thank them: Dr. John Raven, Miss Karen O’Donnell, Mr. Mohammed Hassan and Mr. Peter Campbell Who really helped us a lot to finish the website.
During my working placement at the RCEP, I recognized the differences between working in an organization than working in a school. First of all, I learnt how to deal with adults which force me to deal with them in a professional way. Also, I learnt how to plan for creating effective website and the main point in evaluating websites. Moreover, I learnt different information about the servers and Network Security.
By the end of that week we finished the website and we submitted it to Mr. Taha and he liked it.
Today was my last day at the working placement in the Regional Center for Educational Planning of UNESCO in University City in Sharjah. It was an excited day for me because I submit the website and because at the college we celebrated for the National Day.
At the morning, at 8:00 I copied the website file and I gave it to Mr. Taha. I was shocked because he said for us come and make presentation about the website. I was disappointed because he did not tell us before so we can be ready to present the website for the staff there. About 10:00 Mr. Taha taught us how to use the interactive slides to make the training interactive by using Interwriter work software. I noticed that to connect the slides to the main computer you will need Bluetooth Flash. It pleased me to use it and to learn more about who we can use it.
At 11:00 we left the RCEP building to go to the college and to celebrate the National Day. Because I noticed that the college gate will be closed at 11:00. I was really happy there were lots of activities that I enjoyed them all of them.
Today was my ninth day at the third week in the Regional Center for Educational Planning of UNESCO in University City in Sharjah. It was an excited day for me because I did assembly about our program which is Educational Technology and Miss Maryanne visit the RCEP center.
At the morning, from 8:00 I was preparing and practicing for the assembly. Then at 9:00 we did the presentation in front of Mr. Tony, Miss Glenda, Miss Maryanne, Miss Fiya and Miss Ola. It pleased me that I did the practice well. But I had a problem in pronunciation of the word innovative so all of the teachers were trying to help me to memorize it.
At 10:00 the presentation started I was really nervous, but I did well expect that I forget how to pronounce the word. I was really proud of myself all of the teachers told me that I did well at the end. At 12:30 we went to the RCEP with Miss Maryanne to give the feedback for us. The meeting was amazing we share our learning and knowledge. Also, I like it because we share our experiences with them.
At 02:15 Miss Maryanne took us by her car to the college instead of walking down to the college in the hot and dry weather. We were very thankful for her.
I was really happy today because I met Miss Maryanne and because tomorrow is the National Day celebration.
